Yes, I’m worried about that, A LOT actually, but we need to be welcoming. We should not be so exclusive! WELCOME PEOPLE INTO THE FAMILY! We were all new once.
Agreed! It’s that way with any fandom, really, and so far, after a life full of MANY obsessions and many ‘families’ based on those obsessions, I think LOTR is the kindest, least exclusionary one I’ve been a part of so far. I think, also, from a fangirl perspective, that without Viggo and Orlando in it, the initial interest will be of a more genuine love for the story, instead of just the pretty boys. Maybe I’m wrong on that, but it will be more about the acting, and less, ‘Oooooh, Legolas’ haaaaaair.’ Not that that’s at all a bad thing to fangirl over. But just a guess.
I don’t care, I will enjoy this movie no matter who gets in on it. I loved The Hobbit as a kid when my dad read it to me, so fuck everybody else, this movie exists and its going to be wonderful.
